(WAYNESBURG, Pa.) – The Thomas More College men's basketball team used a big second half to cruise to a 95-56 win over Waynesburg University today (Saturday, February 11, 2017) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

With the win Thomas More moves to 17-6 overall and 13-3 in the PAC. Now with two games left in the regular season Thomas More is still in the hunt for that first place spot in the conference. If the Saints can pull out a win this upcoming Wednesday (February 15, 2017) against Saint Vincent College, the Saints will be tied for first place with one game left in the regular season.

Thomas More had a tremendous second half shooting just at or above 60 percent in every aspect on the offensive side. The Saint shot 59.4 percent from the field, 60 percent from three-point land and 69.2 percent from the free throw line. Not only did the Saints out-shoot their opponent today, they also out-rebounded them 40-29 and tripled them in assist 17-5.

The Saints had nine players reach the scoring column and more than half had double-digits for the second game in a row. Leading the Saints was sophomore guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County), who finished the game with 23 points which was today's game high. Other double-digit scorers were junior forward Austin Young (Campbellsville, Ky./Henry County), who finished with 21, sophomore guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rodgers Clark), who finished with 16, junior center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual), who finished with 11 points and first-year Gavin Jameson (New Castle, Ky,/Henry County), who had a career-high 11 points.

Talking with player of the game, Austin Young we asked him what keeps this team driven to win every game and he told us, "It was a great team win, just taking it one game at time. We knew they were missing a few of their top players, but that is not what we worry about. Every game in the conference is tough especially road games. The main thing we did as a team was we out and play Thomas More basketball tonight."

The Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg finished the game with eight players in the scoring column. They were led by Marcus Wallace who finished the game with 11 points and Timmy Kaiser who finished the game with 10 points.

Talking with Head Coach Drew Cooper after the big win we asked him how his team performed and he told us, "Waynesburg is a very good team that had just been devastated by injuries. That could happen to anyone. They still have as strong of a culture as anyone in the league. We are happy that we were able to perform well today."

Thomas More returns to the Connor Convocation Center on Wednesday (February 15) at 7:30 p.m. as it hosts Saint Vincent College on Senior Night.  The Saints will honor senior guard Sawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) prior to tip-off.
