Britons make game simple

ADRIAN, Mich. – Jason Zahran either scored or kicked out to the open man and that led Albion College to a 72-51 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College.

Zahran finished an assist shy of his fourth double-double of the season. He was efficient shooting, hitting on 7-of-9 attempts from the field. The senior from Trenton also stuffed his stat line with seven rebounds.

"He scored when they left him one-on-one and when they came with a double team he was able to kick out and we made some shots," Head Coach Jody May said. "When you make the game simple, sometimes that's the best recipe for success."

The balanced Britons also received 12 points and nine rebounds from Aquavius Burks, 12 points from Jaylin Fordham and 11 points and seven rebounds from Corey Wheeler.

Fordham scored five points and Wheeler produced four as Albion ripped off an 11-0 run to build a 51-39 lead midway through the second half.

Burks tacked on a pair of three-point baskets to extend Albion's lead to 59-43.

Albion shot 52 percent from the field in the first half, but surrendered nine offensive rebounds and led by just five, 32-27, at halftime.

Albion, winners of three in a row to improve to 8-14 overall and 4-6 against MIAA rivals, now prepares for a Saturday night date at Olivet College.

"I think we're starting to play well, play together," May said.
