Farmingdale State - 87, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 54

Farmingdale, N.Y. - In tonight's Skyline matchup versus St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, the FSC men's basketball team earned an 87-54 victory and extended their winning streak to 13 games. With the victory, the Rams improved to 17-5 overall and 13-0 in the conference.

FSC held a two-point edge, 15-13, midway through the first half and used an 11-0 run which saw scores by five different players to extend the lead to 26-13. The Bears (4-18, 1-12) answered with a 6-0 run but Farmingdale State quickly responded with six unanswered points to bring the advantage back to 13, 32-19, with 5:14 left to play.

Leading 38-27 with 2:06 remaining in the first, layups from both Weldon Irvine* (Queens, N.Y.) and Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) put FSC on top, 42-27. The Rams went into the break with a 45-28 advantage.

Irvine scored two points and secured 10 rebounds in the half, while Mableton and George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) each tallied eight points for the Rams. St. Joe's-Brooklyn's Joseph Idyahia (Glendale, N.Y.) was 3-for-3 from behind the arc for a team-high nine first half points.

With 14:38 left on the clock and FSC ahead 53-36, an 11-2 run over the 2:11 extended the lead to 64-38.

The Rams held a 66-42 advantage and recorded four straight layups to open up a 32-point lead at 74-42. After a 3-pointer by the Bears cut the deficit to 75-47, FSC freshman guard Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) connected on a 3 and converted a pair of free-throws on the Rams' next possession to extend the lead to 80-47.

Farmingdale State went on for the 87-54 victory.

Riefenstahl finished the night with 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high three blocks, while Mableton added 10 points and seven boards. Sophomore guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) also scored 10, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals. Irvine recorded a game-high 12 rebounds and Miller Jr. tallied a career-high seven points in the win.

St. Joe's-Brooklyn was led by Idyahia and freshman guard Stephane Etheart (Hollis Hills, N.Y.) who each scored 11 points.

During the game, Ira Stolzenberg, the Chairperson of the Sport Management Department at Farmingdale State College, was the guest "Coach of the Night". Stolzenberg will be retiring at the end of the academic year. He came to Farmingdale State as an adjunct professor in January 2006 and taught accounting, business, management, sport management and finance courses for the School of Business.

The Rams next will travel to Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, February 11th at noon.
