How It Happened

Sam Light turned in one of the best offensive performances in program history and Lebanon Valley erased a 10-point second-half deficit in the team's thrilling 91-87 victory over longtime rival Albright at the Bollman Center on Saturday afternoon.

Light poured in a game- and career-high 46 points on 70 percent shooting from the field, while Andy Orr netted 18 markers and Andrew Eberhart added a season-high 10 tallies off the bench.

When Albright's Brandon Lindsay knocked down a three-pointer with 8:01 left to play, the Flying Dutchmen (14-8, 8-5 MAC Commonwealth) faced an 81-71 deficit before back-to-back three-balls by Light and Collin Moore capped a game-changing 16-2 run for LVC.

Light netted 10 of the team's 16 markers during the nearly six-minute span, while Eberhart, Orr, and Moore chipped in to give the visitors an 87-83 advantage with 2:21 remaining. The Lions (10-12, 8-5 MAC Commonwealth) cut the LVC lead to two after Dejuan Smith converted a pair of free throws but Light buried three foul shots of his own to push the margin to 90-85 with 1:07 left.

Smith made it a one-possession game after making two more from the charity stripe and Omari Ringgold had a chance to tie the game but his missed three-point attempt with 15 seconds left and Moore's game-sealing free throw with six seconds remaining allowed the Dutchmen to escape with their second consecutive down-to-the-wire road victory over a conference foe.

Lebanon Valley led 47-43 at halftime but the Lions took control midway through the second half and used a methodical approach to lead by 10 on two separate occasions at the 8:31 and 8:01 marks, respectively. Albright led for a 10:18 span as the game wore down before the Dutchmen put together their key run.

LVC led by as many as 10 late in the first half when Light buried his third three-pointer of the day with 3:31 left before the break. The Lions closed out the half on a 9-3 run to make the deficit more manageable heading into intermission.

Light's Historic Day

Sam Light's performance against the Lions will go down as one of the most memorable in program history after he netted a career-high 46 points on an efficient 70 percent shooting from the field (14-20) and an impressive 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc (6-8). His point total is the fifth-highest single-game output in school history and it came in a playoff-like atmosphere on the road against LVC's most well-known rival.

Stat of the Day

3 – Only three players in program history have scored more points in a single game than Sam Light did on Saturday afternoon. Andy Panko (58), Don Johnson (56 and 49), and Bert Kreigh (47) hold the top four spots on the school's all-time single-game scoring list, with Light joining the top five with his 46-point performance against Albright.

Playoff Positioning

Who's Next?

The Dutchmen return to the friendly confines of Sorrentino Gymnasium when they host MAC Commonwealth foe Arcadia on Wednesday night. LVC edged the Knights 83-82 in the teams' first meeting earlier this season.
