Steven Weidlich Sparks #19 Susquehanna Second Half Run to Beat Goucher

Senior Steven Weidlich scored 26 of his game-high 32 points in the second half leading the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team to an 84-63 win over Goucher College Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game at O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna (18-3 overall, 8-2 Landmark) trailed at halftime 33-32 and Goucher (4-17, 1-9) took a six-point lead in the first four minutes of the second half. The six-point lead came on a pair of free throws following a bench technical foul called against the River Hawks.

Susquehanna answered with an 8-1 run to take a lead at 48-47 on a Weidlich 3-pointer.

The Gophers battled back and forth with the River Hawks over the next five minutes. With the game tied at 56-56 at the 9:20 mark in the second half, Weidlich and Susquehanna poured it on with a 28-5 run over a seven-minutes stretch.

Weidlich had 11 points in the run and Jason Dietrich added eight with a pair of 3-pointers and the River Hawks led by more than 20 points with less than three minutes remaining.

Weidlich's 32 led all scorers while Dietrich added 18 and Ryan Traub chipped in 12. Dietrich had a team-leading seven rebounds and Dalton Reichard handed out seven assists to lead the River Hawks. Adam Dizbon score eight points off the bench for Susquehanna.

The River Hawks are home against Catholic Wednesday and Drew next Saturday for senior day before hitting the road for the final two games of the regular season the following week.
