FSC Extends Win Streak to 12 with Victory Over Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team extended their winning streak to 12 games with this afternoon's 87-68 Skyline Conference victory over Mount Saint Vincent.

The Rams opened the game on a 10-0 run over the first 4:35 as senior forward Weldon Irvine* (Queens, N.Y.) scored six of those points.

Leading 18-10 with 11:36 remaining, a 9-0 FSC run which saw seven points by sophomore guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) extended the advantage to 27-10.

With Mount Saint Vincent down 16 and 8:08 left in the half, the Dolphins rattled off seven unanswered points to cut the deficit to nine, 31-22. The Rams took a 37-26 lead into the break as Graham tallied a team-high nine points in the first half.

The Rams started the second half on an 11-0 run capped off by a George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) layup and pair of free-throws to go ahead, 48-29.

Farmingdale State led 56-42 with 11:01 left on the clock before the Dolphins recorded five straight points to close within nine, 56-47.

After a pair of Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) free-throws put the Rams up 10 with less than seven minutes to play, sophomore guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) followed with a layup to extend the advantage to 65-53.

Over the final 4:58, Mount Saint Vincent would cut the deficit to nine four times, but FSC pulled away late for the 87-68 victory.

Graham finished with a team-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Irvine recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Riefenstahl scored 14 points (5-for-8) and grabbed eight boards and Mableton also tallied 14 points and had three steals. Monaghan, who was 11-of-14 at the line, scored 14 points in the win.

Senior guard Myron Hickman (Bronx, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 30 points for the Dolphins.

Farmingdale State will now host St. Joe's-Brooklyn on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m.
