Senior point guard Grant Shaeffer had 21 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds with just one turnover to lead the visiting Tommies (13-4 overall, 9-3 MIAC) to Wednesday night's 81-66 MIAC men's basketball win at Macalester.
St. Thomas has won nine of its last 10 games and shares the MIAC lead with Bethel, one-half game ahead of idle St. John's.
The Tommies shot 52 percent from the floor, including 9-of-19 treys. UST had a 38-27 rebounding edge and a 24-9 advantage in bench scoring.
Ryan Boll added 15 points, Michael Hannon scored 12 points, and Will Dunn added 10.
Kareem Ismail scored 22 points to lead the Scots.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at St. John's.
