Wallace Scores 1,000th Career Point as Knights Take Down Giants

LA PLUME, Pa. – The No. 21 Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Keystone College 99-76 as senior Carl Wallace scored his 1,000th career point on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.  

Wallace, needing just nine points to reach 1,000 career points, finished the game with 18 points while adding 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Darian Barnes also notched a double-double with 22 points and 18 boards. DeShawn Lowman led the game in scoring with 32 points. Billy Cassidy hit four three-pointers and went 4-for-5 from the free throw line, his first charity shots of the season, to finish with 16 points. Tyaire Hudson added 10 points. The team shot 52.9% from the field.


Keystone came out strong to start the game and took an early 12-4 lead. Neumann scored the next eight points to tie the game at 12. The Knights went on a 7-0 run, capped by a three-pointer by Cassidy, to take a 26-all game to a 35-28 lead. The Giants then went on their own run to get to within one, 35-34. A Keystone three-pointer tied the game at 39 with 2:44 left before halftime. Another Giant long shot, with seven seconds left on the clock, put them up 47-45 at the half.


Barnes tied the game at 47 with the first basket of the second half. After the teams traded baskets for the seventh tied score of the game, the Knights started to make their move. Holding a four point advantage, 57-53, Neumann went on an 8-1 run to get a double-digit lead, 65-54. During that run, Wallace connected on a dunk to surpass the 1,000 point mark with 13:43 on the clock. The Knights continued to add to their lead over the second part of the half to come away with the 99-76 win.

Neumann (17-1, 11-0 CSAC) returns home on Saturday to host Gwynedd Mercy in a big CSAC match-up beginning at 3:00 PM.
