Becker rallies to down Daniel Webster, 67-62

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's basketball team defeated the visiting team from Daniel Webster College, 67-62, on Thursday evening at the Leicester Gymnasium.

 

The Hawks of Becker (9-5 / 5-0 NECC), down by as much as 15 early in the first half, outscored the visitors 45-29 after the break for the come-from-behind win. Senior guard Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y. / Benjamin N. Cardozo) scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half, shooting four-of-seven from behind the arc. With Becker clinging to a one-point lead with 30 seconds left, Credle buried a dagger three to give the Hawks enough breathing room to preserve the win. Junior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet), the reigning NECC and WACBA Player of the Week, posted a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Freshman forward Antonio White Jr. (Middletown, Conn. / Middletown) finished with 10 points and five rebounds while fellow freshman forward Donzell Cunningham (Linden, N.J. / Piscataway) scored a career-high nine points off the bench. Sophomore guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) finished with nine points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. For the game, Becker shot 37 percent from behind the arc against 20 percent from Daniel Webster.

 

The Eagles of Daniel Webster (9-6 / 3-3 NECC) were led by senior forward Ray Farmer (Nashua, N.H. / Nashua South) with 11 points and 10 boards. Sophomore guard Antwaun Boyd (Stamford, Conn. / Westhills) had 11 points, while junior guard Marquise Caudill (Windsor, Conn. / Windsor) finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

 

With the victory, the Hawks continue to hold on to first place in the NECC standings, as the last unbeaten team in conference play.

 

Becker will be back on the court on Saturday when they head to Mitchell College for a 3:00 p.m. NECC matchup. Daniel Webster will host Lesley University, also on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
