MAHWAH, N.J. – Senior guard Joseph Taylor (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) scored a career-high 28 points and senior guard Zach Frick (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) added 21 but the William Paterson men's basketball team (8-9, 4-6 NJAC) couldn't overcome No. 13 Ramapo (15-1, 9-1 NJAC), 108-85, Jan. 18.

 

Taylor added a career-best 10 rebounds for his first double-double. Frick was 7-for-10 (.700) from the floor while adding four assists and three steals, while senior guard Galen Smith (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway Tech) chipped in 14 points

 

The Roadrunners owned a 47-29 lead by the 4:11 mark of the first half, but 10 points off the hot hand of Frick helped the Pioneers close the gap to 56-48 by halftime.

 

When Smith's jumper made the margin single digits at 76-67 with 11:11 on the clock in the second half, Ramapo answered with an 18-8 run during the next five minutes, producing a 94-75 game with 6:29 left.

 

Junior forward Nick Stanek led six Roadrunners in double figures with 20 points, adding 12 rebounds. Junior guard James Long finished with 17 tallies and 10 assists.

 

Ramapo owned a 42-22 rebounding advantage and doubled up WP in points scored off turnovers, 24-12.

 

William Paterson will host Rowan Saturday, Jan. 21, at 3:00 p.m.
