OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Hood College shot 50 percent from 3-point range in a convincing 95-68 victory at Stevenson in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

  • Seven different players hit at least one 3-pointer in the contest as the Blazers went 11 of 22 from distance in the win. 
  • Scott Bolen led Hood (13-4, 5-3) with 17 points in the contest. The graduate student hit 6 of 8 field goals, including all three of his 3-point attempts. He also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. 
  • Reserves Michael Riley and Jared Ruiz both scored in double figures. Riley went 5 of 10 from the floor and hit a pair of threes on his way to a career-high 14 points. Ruiz sank both of his 3-point tries and was a perfect 4 of 4 at the free throw line, finishing with 10 points. 
  • Luke Casey grabbed 10 rebounds and was one point shy of a double-double. 

How it Happened

  • Hood trailed 6-3 early before Ruiz hit a 3-pointer to tie the game and start a 23-6 run. A layup by Casey gave the Blazers a 26-12 lead with 7:14 remaining in the first half. Hood led by as many as 21 in the half, taking a 42-21 edge with 3:13 to go in the half on a bucket by Michael Robinson
  • After leading 44-29 at halftime, Bolen scored eight points during a 14-3 run to open the second half, resulting in a 48-32 lead with 15:15 to play. 
  • Austin Griffiths gave Hood its biggest lead of the evening with a layup to make it 87-56 with 3:54 left. 

Notes

  • Hood won virtually every statistical category. The Blazers shot 49 percent from the field and outrebounded the Mustangs 46-33. Hood turned 17 Stevenson turnovers into 30 points and held a 15-0 edge in fastbreak scoring. The Blazers turned the ball over only 11 times in the game. 
  • The Hood bench scored 56 points in the contest, the final two of which were the first collegiate points for Tyler Evans
  • Kyle Wooldridge came off the bench to pace Stevenson (3-14, 1-7) with 13 points.
