BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Nick Comenale (New York Mills, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to help top-ranked Babson College defeat visiting Wheaton College, 76-57, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

With its fifth straight win, Babson is now 14-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while Wheaton falls to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals, while classmate Isaiah Nelsen (North Andover, Mass.) contributed 14 points and eight boards for the Beavers. Fellow senior Sam Bohmiller (Franklin, Mass.) added 13 points and three assists in the win.

Junior Ryan Fogarty (Walpole, Mass.) led three players in double figures with 17 points for the Lyons, while senior Quinton Dale (Winthrop, Mass.) finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

The Green and White led by as many as seven in the opening minutes and closed the first half with a 7-0 run, which included four points from Bohmiller, to take a 37-32 edge into the locker room. Wheaton junior Liam Bruno (Newton, Mass.) tied the game at 43-43 a little over seven minutes into the second half before the Beavers ripped off a 13-0 run to take control of the game.

A layup by senior David Stauffer (York, Pa.) made it 46-43 at the 11:43 mark, Comenale drained a three-pointer to push the lead to seven, and Flannery followed with back-to-back hoops to push the Babson advantage to 56-53 with 7:46 left. The Lyons pulled back within nine on a pair of free throws by Dale, but a Nelsen tip-in followed by a dunk and another triple by Comenale made it 63-47 with 4:29 to play.

Fogarty and senior Timothy Berry (Sterling, Mass.) knocked down consecutive three-pointers to trim Babson's lead to 63-53 less than a minute later, but the Green and White responded by scoring on six of its final seven possessions for the final margin.

The Beavers shot 45.2 percent overall and 47.1 percent from beyond the arc, while finishing with a 46-36 edge on the glass and outscoring Wheaton 34-24 in the paint.

The Lyons, who were limited to just five field goals over the first 15 minutes of the second half, shot a season-low 34.9 percent from the floor.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as Babson travels to MIT, while Wheaton hosts Emerson.
