Mahwah, NJ: The #19th ranked men's basketball team of Ramapo College defeated the Lions of the College of New Jersey, 98-90 today in a NJAC match-up at the Bradley Center. The win is Ramapo's 13th straight as they remain undefeated at 13-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference. The Lions fall to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the NJAC.
Christopher Moseley and Nick Stanek led the Roadrunners collecting 19 points each while Thomas Bonacum and Josh Ford each finished with 15 points. James Long drained 12 as the team went 40-64 (63%). Ford led with seven assists and Long added six as Bonacum and Stanek each led with eight rebounds. Moseley grabbed three steals in the win.
Bonacum would hit a two-point goal and Long would drain a three to start the game, but three three-point goals, two from Eric Klacik and one from Jordan Glover, would put TCNJ ahead 12-7 with 15:46 on the clock. Bobby Brackett would sink a basket of his own to put the Lions ahead, 14-7 forcing a Ramapo timeout. Over the next eight plus minutes, Ramapo would slowly chip away at the Lions' lead to come within four, 25-29 at 7:28. Jermaine Peart would sink two and with a long shot from Long, Ramapo would close the gap to 28-29 at 6:07. Moseley gave the Roadrunners a 30-29 lead and Ford would sink a jumper to force a TCNJ timeout with Ramapo ahead 32-29 with 4:49 to play in the half. With just under three on the clock, Long would sink another three-point goal to take a 39-31 lead and down the stretch Ramapo would sink two and TCNJ four to head into the locker room with Ramapo ahead, 41-35. Stanek led all Roadrunners with 11 points and Long added ten as the team hit a combined 18-33 (55%). Bonacum pulled down seven boards and Long and Ford each dished out four assists. TCNJ was led by Brackett with ten points as the team went 14-25 (56%). Klacik and Glover each collected six points and Eric Murdock, Jr., dished out four assists.
Over the first two minutes of the second half the two teams would trade baskets until with 17:45 on the clock, Ramapo would string together four points to take a double-digit advantage with a basket from Stanek, 53-43. TCNJ would come within seven at 14:37 with a free throw from Elias Bermudez but Ford would drain a long shot to take a 67-56 lead with 9:58 to play. Ramapo continued to spread the gap with a dunk from Moseley, his second of the game at 7:42 (73-58) and with a tip in from Stanek at 7:14 to lead 75-58. Ford drained a three at 4:54 to lead 80-63 and two long shots from Klacik with just over three minutes to play would close the gap to 69-84. The Lions did not shut down hitting three more three-point goals in the end coming within five, 90-95, but Ramapo would hold tight taking the game, 98-90. Ford led Ramapo with 13 points and Moseley added 11 as the team went 22-31 (71%) in the half. Corey Stanford led TCNJ with 13 points and Klacik netted 12 points. TCNJ went 19-29 (66%).
Klacik led the Lions with 18 points and Stanford finished with a double-double including 17 points and ten rebounds while Glover collected 14 points in the loss. Murdock and Brackett each netted 12. The team went 33-54 (61%). Murdock dished out six assists in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, January 11th when they host Rowan for a 5:30pm tip-off.
