OSWEGO, N.Y. – Senior forward Andrew Seniuk (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) recorded his first double-double of the season but the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team dropped a 98-69 decision at SUNY Oswego on Saturday afternoon.
Seniuk led the team with 15 points and 10 boards, shooting 5-of-10 from the field. Joining Seniuk in double figures were junior guard Dylan Balducci (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and sophomore guard Malik Seelal (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), who both dropped 10 points each. Seelal tallied a team-high three assists in reserve action.
Freshman center Nick Arthur (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) contributed nine points, four rebounds and three blocks while freshman guard/forward Tristan Wissemann tallied nine points of his own behind a 3-of-3 performance from long distance. Sophomore guard Matt Misser (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) notched eight points.
The Hawks fall to 1-10, 0-6 SUNYAC and will look to bounce back hosting non-conference foe Stevenson on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. The Lakers improve to 9-3, 5-1 SUNYAC.
As for Oswego, the Lakers had five players finish in double figures led by Brian Sortino's 20. Keith Tyson tallied 17 points while Brandan Gartland and Jamir Ferebee both chipped in 12 points.
New Paltz shot 44.9 percent for the day (22-of-49) and 47.1 percent from three-point range (8-of-17) but were plagued by 15 turnovers and could not stop the hot-shooting Lakers as the hosts enjoyed a 55.2 percent day from the field (32-of-58).
The Hawks trailed by just nine (41-32) at intermission but the Lakers used several large runs in the second half to put the game out of reach.
