MADISON, N.J. (Jan. 2, 2017) - The Drew University men's basketball team soared past Mount Aloysius College, 117-59, in a record book performance Monday afternoon in Baldwin Gymnasium.
By The Numbers: The Rangers improve to 6-6 on the season with this lopsided victory. The Mounties drop to 2-9 overall, while Drew moves its record in Baldwin Gymnasium to 5-3.
Top Performers
• Freshman guard Riley Collins scored a career-high 29 points shooting 7-of-13 from beyond the arc, with his seven 3-pointers tied for sixth in a single game in Drew history.
• Junior guard Yonathan Napoleon put together a well-rounded game on the stat sheet, scoring 18 points with seven rebounds and seven assists.
• Sophomore guard Dan Roibal scored 11 points and collected seven rebounds on the day.
• Freshman forward Brett Harmon scored a career-high 11 points on 3-of-3 three-pointing shooting and a 2-of-2 mark from the free throw line, all in just four minutes of action.
Turning Point: Drew had a bit of a slow start being down by five points early, but an offensive firestorm by Collins and Roibal gave them a 27-13 lead by the 10 minute mark in the first half. The Rangers hit eight 3-point field goals in the first half alone giving them a 35-point lead at half-time.
Highlights:
• Collins exploded for nine points in under five minutes of court time early in the first half. Collins had 16 points just in the first half.
• Napoleon also had a huge first half, scoring 14 by using his range from beyond the arc and overall offensive hustle.
• Junior transfer Steve Sangree sank his first bucket in Baldwin Bymnasium as a Drew Ranger early in the second half.
• The Rangers eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time since November 2015.
• Freshman guard Nikko DeBenedetto scored his first collegiate bucket late in the second half, a three-pointer from the corner that hit nothing but net.
• Sixteen of the 17 players dressed in uniform on Monday scored a point for Drew.
Record Book: The Rangers hit a season-high 18 three-point field goals, the second most in school history. They also finished with 117 points, which is the second highest points scored in a single-game in school history. The Rangers outrebounded the Mounties 58-29, the second most total rebounds in the record books.
There were 75 bench points in total for both teams, 55 for Drew and 20 for the Mounties. The Rangers had 43 total field goals, one shy from tying the school record.
