SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The University of Scranton men's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort and a strong first half to knock off Montclair State, 70-61, on Monday afternoon at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.
The Royals (8-2) raced out to a 39-28 lead at halftime behind a solid all-around offensive effort. During one stretch, four different players – junior guard Mitch Cross (Marriottsville, Md./Loyola-Blakefield), junior guard Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights), junior forward Brandon Feinberg (Avon, Conn./Avon/Suffield Academy) and freshman forward Matthew Mancuso (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) – hit 3-pointers on four straight possessions.
Feinberg finished with a career-high 14 points, one day after scoring a then-career high 12 in a win over Emory & Henry. Freshman guard Kyle DeVerna (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) also had 14 points to go along with three assists and a steal. Senior center John Vitkus (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) finished with 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks, and junior forward Drew Schankweiler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) had 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Royals will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 30, when they travel to Aston, Pa. to take on Neumann at 7 p.m.
