DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's basketball game outscored visiting Kean University, 34-11, in the first half, en route to a 64-41, non-conference victory.

The win improved the Aggies record to 4-5 overall while the Cougars fell to 0-9.

Kean got the first basket of the game when Keenan Williams, Jr. connected with Justin Watson for an alley-oop. However, DelVal responded by scoring the next 15 points to take control of the evening. All five Aggie starters scored during that spurt led by a pair of 3-pointers from Mike Cianciulli.

Later in the half, DelVal nailed treys on three consecutive possessions as Alex Matsinye, Andre' Butler and Tyliek Kimbrough hit from downtown to open up a 32-10 advantage with 3:12 remaining in the stanza. Tyrea Williams added a dunk at the buzzer for the 23-point lead going into the break.

The Cougars shot just 5-for-20 from the field, including 0-for-10 from beyond the arc. The Aggies were 14-for-32 from the field and 5-of-14 from deep.

Kean, behind six points from Jodrell Thompson, scored seven of the first nine points in the second half to cut its deficit to 36-20 with 17:02 to play. That was as close as the Cougars would get as DelVal responded with a 16-5 run over the next nine and a half minutes to increase its lead to 52-25. Matsinye, Cianciulli and Austin Stoeckel all connected from three-point land during the run and the Aggies cruised the rest of the way to the 64-41 win.

Williams led DelVal with game highs of 15 points and eight rebounds while Cianciulli, in his first start of the season, shot 4-for-9 from beyond the arc for 12 points. The backcourt of Kimbrough and Matsinye combined for 17 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds and Austin Stoeckel notched seven points and five rebounds (four offensive) in just 11 minutes for the Aggies.

Kean shot 35.6 percent (16-for-45) from the field and 15 percent (3-for-20) from deep for the game. Thompson and Micah Kerr each had nine points while Mike Summerer notched seven points and four rebounds.

DelVal is off until Thursday, December 29 when it battles Rosemont College in the opening round of the Lycoming College Tournament.
