EWING (NJ) – The College of New Jersey shot 52.5 percent from the field and hit 11 treys on the evening as the Lions posted a 90-68, non-conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley University.
TCNJ never trailed in the contest as it improved to 6-2 on the season. The Aggies fell to 3-4.
The Lions built an early nine-point lead, but DelVal battled back and pulled to within two, 25-23, after Daniel Paulson came off the bench and sank his third 3-pointer with 4:26 left in the opening half. TCNJ responded with an 11-0 run and the squad went onto take a 38-27 halftime lead.
The Lions then scored the first points of the second stanza and the Aggies never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way. TCNJ finished the night hitting 32 of its 61 shots from the field, including a scorching 19-for-33 effort (57.6%) in the second half. Eight of its 11 3-pointers also came in the final 20 minutes.
Bobby Brackett was 10-for-12 from the field and finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions. Eric Klacik had 11 points while Ryan Jensen and Corey Stanford added 10 points apiece.
The Aggies were 26-for-61 from the field (42.6%) and they had five blocks on the evening, all from 6-foot-7 center Tyrea Williams. The senior also notched 14 points, six rebounds and four steals in 26 minutes of action. Dom Stiefel came off the bench to hit a trio of 3-pointers as he scored a career-high 12 points in just nine minutes. Manny Brown had 10 points and Paulson finished with nine. Joe Russell grabbed a team-high and career-best eight boards while Tyliek Kimbrough scored seven points and dished out eight assists.
DelVal will host Neumann University for a non-conference game on Wednesday, December 7 (7 p.m.).
