BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Nick Comenale (New York Mills, N.Y.) finished with 20 points and seven rebounds as second-ranked Babson College raced past visiting Bates College, 87-53, in non-conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

With the win, Babson is now 7-0 on the year, while Bates falls to 3-2 overall.

Senior Isaiah Nelsen (North Andover, Mass.) recorded his first double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) contributed 11 points and five assists. Junior Brian Kelley (Potomac, Md.) scored a career-high 10 points off the bench and classmate Chris Lowry (Union, Conn.) dished out a career-high seven assists to go along five boards for the Beavers.

Senior Malcolm Delpeche (Wilmington, Del.) led the Bobcats with 10 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots. Sophomore Max Hummel (Glastonbury, Conn.) also scored 10 points in the loss.

The Green and White got five quick points from junior Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) and built a 10-2 lead less than four minutes into the contest. Bates pulled within 14-7 on a free throw by Hummel at the 12:46 mark, but Comenale knocked down a trio of three-pointers to key an 11-2 run that gave the Beavers a 25-7 advantage midway through the first half.

Leading 39-22 at the half, Babson pushed the margin to 21 on a three-pointer by Comenale less than five minutes out of the break, and then ripped off a 17-3 spurt to put the game out of reach. Comenale made it 59-32 with a thunderous dunk off the glass, while Nelsen and seniors Charlie Rice (Barnstable, Mass.) and Matthew Droney (Canton, Mass.) combined for 11 straight points to extend the advantage to 70-35 with 7:37 left.

Babson took its biggest lead of the game at 82-45 on a layup by Kelley with 3:19 to go and later matched it on a pair of free throws by first-year Julian Alexis (Somerville, N.J.) with just over two minutes remaining.

The Beavers shot 47.2 percent (34-of-72) and dished out 13 of their 19 assists in the second half. The Green and White also finished with a 51-30 edge on the glass and held the Bobcats to a season-low 32.2 percent shooting.

Babson returns to action on Friday when it takes on Salem State the opening round of the New England Big 4 Challenge at Brandeis at 5:30 p.m., while Bates travels to Husson on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. tip-off.

•    The Beavers are 13-12 all-time against Bates and snapped a three-game losing streak in the series on Wednesday.
•    Babson pulled down a season-high 16 offensive rebounds and its 51 total rebounds are the most since grabbing 54 caroms in an 88-84 OT loss at Bowdoin last November.
•    The Green and White has made 75 three-point field goals in its first seven games after knocking down just 35 triples over its first seven contests last season.
•    The Beavers have won 13 consecutive home games and 37-4 at home going back to the 2014-15 campaign.
