ADRIAN, MICH. – A guard trio of seniors Tyler Alexander (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Chase Casteel (Monrovia,. Ind.) and sophomore Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) topped the scoring column for Manchester University Saturday, Nov. 19.

Alexander dropped in 10 points, the lone Spartan in double digits, to go with six rebounds, six assists and two steals. Johnson tallied nine points, and Casteel wound up with eight, five rebounds and a blocked shot. Despite those totals, the host Adrian College Bulldogs used a strong field goal performance overall, hitting at a 44.9 percent clip, and beyond the arc, knocking down six of 14 attempts, to overcome their guests 78-56.

MU, looking to even its season record, got out to a good start inside AC's Merillat Sports and Fitness Complex, leading 16-14 at the 12:56 mark. An 11-0 stretch by the home team, at that point, gave them a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Black and Gold (0-2), resuming a run of four successive contests against the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, opens its 2016-17 home campaign Wednesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off against in-state non-conference rival Trine University is 7 p.m.
