#2 Benedictine Sets School Record for Wins

LISLE, Ill. - One of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the entire nation, the Benedictine University men's basketball team set a single season school record for wins by improving to 24-0 with a senior day win over Edgewood College.

THE DETAILS
Edgewood held the lead for nearly the first seven minutes of the contest, scoring the first four points
Trailing by seven points at 11-4, Benedictine embarked on a 14-0 run to the lead and not look back
Luke Johnson was able to tie the game with a three-pointer at the 13:13 mark
Shawn Soelter hit a jumper with 10:30 left in the first half to finish the run and make the score 18-11
Matt Chaltin, who scored 15 points in the first half, pushed the lead to double figures with a jumper, making the score 23-13 with 9:26 remaining in the half
The first half advantage reached 22 points with just under two minutes to play on a three-pointer from Chaltin, making the score 41-19
Benedictine led 41-21 at halftime
Tim Reamer scored on a layup five minutes into the second to extend the lead to 30 points at 54-24
Benedictine led by as many as 38 in the half, clearing the bench around the seven-minute mark
Benedictine led for over 32 minutes in the contest which saw two ties

FROM THE COACH
"I am proud of our team for breaking a 25-year old record with the victory today," head coach Keith Bunkenburg said. "After a slow start our bench was able to give us a nice spark. From there we were able to get back to fundamentals which created some easy baskets."

STAT LEADERS
Everyone who dressed for the contest was able to see time on the floor
Chaltin finished with a Benedictine career high 18 points to lead all scorers, adding seven rebounds in his second double-figure game of the year
Johnson tallied 17 points, adding nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocks
Reamer, starting for the second time on the season, posted 13 points and grabbed a game and career best 14 rebounds
Benedictine, top rebounding team in the country, held a 62-36 advantage on the glass and scored 48 points in the paint
The defense held Edgewood to just 27.9 percent shooting
