How It Happened

  • The Griffins came out of the gate outscoring the Ravens 9-1 in the first 3:23 of the game, but Rosemont quickly found themselves and recovered nicely. A three-pointer from Clayton Wolfewould give the Ravens their first lead of the game, 10-9 just 2:26 later, and a couple of free throws from Jamier Hughes would cap a 12-0 Rosemont run to give the visitors a 12-9 lead with just six minutes elapsed. The momentum continued for Rosemont with another 6-0 Ravens run to grab a 20-11 lead over the Griffins with 9:47 left in the half.

  • Over the next 8 ½ minutes, though, the Griffins would snip away at Rosemont's lead, and tied the game at 35-35 with 1:07 left before halftime. With the game tied at 37-37, GMU's Darnell Artis converted a jumper with 12 seconds left and Rosemont's shot at the buzzer was blocked by Arron Goodman to give the home Griffins a slim two-point edge, leading 39-37 at the half.

  • A trey from Hughes would get the Ravens to within a point, trailing 41-40 with 19:14 left in the game, but the Griffins would start to put some distance between the two teams after that point. GMU would use a 21-9 advantage to take a 13-point lead (62-49) with 13 minutes remaining in the game. The Ravens were unable to dent the lead under double-digits for the remainder of the contest.
