The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team used a strong second half to secure a win at Ithaca College 97-74 on Thursday night.
With the win, Fisher improves to 14-5 overall and 8-2 in the Empire 8 Conference, as Ithaca falls to 11-9, 5-6.
Five players for Fisher finished in double figures, with Tyler Hart going 6-for-10 from the field, five of which were 3-pointers.
Ithaca got an early start over the Cardinals grabbing a six-point lead in the opening minutes, but Fisher was able to bounce back tying the game at 15-15 with just over 13 minutes left in the first. A layup from Zach Ottaway would give the Cardinals the lead for good just seven minutes into the game.
With four minutes to go in the first the Cardinals extended their lead to 10 over the Bombers on a 3-pointer from Tyler English, but headed into halftime just five points ahead.
Ithaca came within five after two minutes passed in the second half, but this is the closest they would come to Fisher for the remainder of the game.
Hart's four second half 3-pointers launched Fisher into the lead, as he scored all four within a 10 minute span as the game came to a close.
Fisher reached its highest lead of the game at 28 on a jumper from Alex Sausville with three minutes left.
Hart led with 22 points and tallied four assists, while Keegan Ryan was just behind him with 20 points, tallying a team-high 10 rebounds. English went 6-11 from the field, tallying 13 points total, while Sausville and Ottoway each had 11 points and five rebounds.
The Cardinals return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday when they take on Nazareth College at home in the Battle of the Beaks matchup.
