Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team is now winners of 12 of its last 14 games with a 73-60 victory at Elizabethtown on Wednesday night. The Cardinals trailed with 11 minutes to play in the game, but finished strong to come away with its eighth Landmark victory of the year.

Junior forward Corey Stanford posted his second straight double-double for CUA with 13 points and 13 rebounds. With his final basket off the game with 3:05 remaining, Stanford became 43^rd member of the 1,000-point club at Catholic, scoring 1,000 exactly. He joins teammate Bryson Fonville as active members of the club. Fonville is currently the 12^th leading scorer all-time at CUA.

The Cardinals got 20-point performance from sophomore Jay Howard for the 11^th time this season as he led all scorers in the contest. Howard is now 111 points shy of giving CUA three active 1,000-point scorers.

CUA earned the rebounding battle inside Thompson Gym, 33-26, and capitalized on the Blue Jays' mistakes, scoring 21 points off turnovers. The Cardinals also put in 12 second-chance points, compared to none for E-Town.

Catholic took a 10-2 lead to start the game, but an 11-2 run by Elizabethtown took the advantage away. The lead changed hands eight times in the game, but the Cards went up for the rest of the period on a Howard layup with 7:18 to play in first that made it 21-20.

CUA closed out the initial stanza on a 12-2 run and led for the first nine minutes of the second, but the Blue Jays battled back to take the lead at 47-46.

Elizabethtown scored the next basket but back-to-back 3-pointers by senior Kyle Phanord and junior Louis Khouri gave Catholic a lead it would not relinquish.

Both Phanord and Khouri finished with nine points, each hitting three 3-pointers.

Fonville scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting with eight assists and two steals.

Catholic continues its road swing this weekend when it travels to Drew on Saturday at 2 p.m.
