The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team continued its unbeaten season on Tuesday night with a 76-54 victory over Penn St. Abington in Abington, Pa. The win pushes the Chargers' record to 18-0 overall this season and 11-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Though the Chargers won, Tuesday's game will not be featured prominently on the postseason highlight film as the win was one of the team's ugliest of the season.

How it Happened: Both teams began slowly as the Chargers led just 3-2 almost four minutes into the game. Lancaster Bible eventually took an 8-2 lead after two free throws from Dondre Perry and a 3-pointer from Kurt Keltner. The Nittany Lions used a quick 6-0 run to knot the game at 8-8 and after Penn St. Abington took a 12-10 lead, the Chargers answered right back with a 3-pointer from CJ Dunston and a layup from Jon Bird

The teams traded baskets for the next few minutes and a jumper from Dunston with 7:28 to play in the first half tied the game at 19-19. From that point it was all Lancaster Bible as the Chargers closed the half on a 23-6 run and took a 42-25 lead at the break. Lancaster Bible was 9-of-9 from the free throw line during the scoring run, which was capped by a three-point play from Kurt Keltner with five seconds remaining in the half.

Penn St. Abington scored the first four points of the second half to trim its deficit to 13 at 42-29, but the Chargers answered again as the visitors went on a 13-0 run over the next 6:37 to take a 55-29 lead with less than 13 minutes to play. Dunston ended the run with an exclamation point as he slammed home a dunk on a fastbreak.

Lancaster Bible would eventually lead by as many as 30, thanks to a layup from Keltner with 7:38 to play, before winning by 22, 76-54.

The Coach Says: "Tonight was not one of our better performances," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Zach Filzen said. "We didn't execute well on the offensive end and settled for too many shots. Our pace was not where it needs to be and the offense just didn't flow well."

On the team's defensive effort..."I thought we did a good job defensively and kept the ball in front of us, which was really good," Filzen said. "I thought our energy on that end of the floor was good for a lot of the night."

On the final seven games of the season..."We have lots to learn from this game and in order to go where we want to go, we need to start playing with more urgency and get better each game," Filzen said.
