Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Broncos, 80-51

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team led from start to finish en route to an 80-51 victory against visiting SUNY Delhi on Sunday afternoon in the Roos House.

The Roos (12-2) jumped out to a quick 18-6 lead nine minutes in after a pair of baskets from Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) that included a thunderous slam. SUNY Canton opened up a 39-17 lead at intermission.

Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) and Fletcher paced the Roos with 10 points each in the opening half as Fletcher was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. Chiamaka Browne led the Broncos (13-9) with six points.

 

The Roos cruised in the second half as SUNY Delhi never got closer than 20 points the remainder of the way. SUNY Canton held a huge advantages in rebounding (54-29), bench points (31-17), points in the paint (48-36) and second chance points (16-8).

Annorh led all players with 18 points, while Fletcher added 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting. Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Walt Jeter (Fort Drum, NY) added eight points and eight rebounds.

Trevor Smith led the Broncos with 13 points, while Browne added 12 points and seven boards.

The men's basketball team travels to Chestnut, MA on Friday to take part in the Pine Manor College Tournament.
