ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Cam Haslam dropped thirty points leading the Chapman University men's basketball team to defeat first-place Caltech 83-60 on Wednesday at the Hutton Sports Center.
Chapman took the lead early opening up with a 12-6 run. Caltech battled with a 16-6 run to take the lead 21-18 at the 7:57 minute, however Chapman's persistent offense refused defeat opening up a 12-2 run to take the lead back 30-25 at the 3:48 minute mark.
Haslam went off in the last four minutes of the first half creating an 11-0 run with three triples and a layup to give the Panthers a 45-23 lead.
The Panthers then maintained a 20-point lead throughout the second half taking their largest lead of 29 points at the 8:59 minute mark with back-to-back three-pointers by sophomore Tyler Green.
Sophomore James Taylor also posted double digits for the Panthers dropping 5-for-8 down-low and leading the Panthers with three blocks on defense.
The Panthers (10-4 overall, 4-2 SCIAC) will play their next two games on the road beginning with Cal Lutheran on Saturday, Jan. 23 with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
