Bulldogs Pull Out 87-78 Home Win Against CCNY

WEST QUAD CENTER Brooklyn, NY---Trailing by a point with 3:52 left in the game, the Bulldogs would finish the contest on a 10-0 run after CCNY's leading scorer and primary ball handler Khalil Hamer fouled out of the game.  Hamer finished the game prematurely with a team-high 20 points and 11 rebounds.  

The Bulldogs improve to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in th CUNYAC with the victory.  CCNY drops to 9-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference.  The Bulldogs swept the regular season series with the Beavers tonight.  BC will be back on the court at John Jay on Friday, January 22nd.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM following the women's game at 6:00 PM as the second part of a CUNYAC doubleheader. 

CCNY led after scoring the first bucket of the second half at the 19:18 until Hamer was disqualified with 3:52 remaining in the game.  The Beavers led by as many nine points in the second half. 

The Bulldogs would display the same resiliency they have all season, chipping away at the Beavers' lead with 11:19 to go in the contest on a three-point play converted by sophomore guard Niv Konfino.  A Pajtim Gjonbalaj steal and fast-break lay-up would give the Bulldogs the lead for good with 3:12 to go in the game. 

Starting the game out on a 4-0 run, the Beavers would find themselves down by as many eight points with 12:15 remaining in the first half.  The Bulldogs would cling on to a 43-42 halftime advantage. 

The Bulldogs were paced by senior forward Lorenzo Williams' 12 points in the first half.  He would finish with 17 points for the game after getting in some foul trouble early in the second half. 

BC got great production out of senior forward Dennis Balsam who has recently stepped into a starting role.  He would finish with nine points on a perfect 4-4 from the field and six rebounds. 

This week's CUNYAC Player of the Week, Egzon Gjonbalaj, finished the game with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double.  Both were game-highs. 

The Bulldogs finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds to the Beavers' three extra chances.

Senior Guard Jamel Gist was 11-12 from the charity stripe, finishing with 17 points on the evening.  He also dished out six assists to teammates.
