Thomas More Falls at PAC-Leading Saint Vincent

(LATROBE, Pa.) – The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 72-66, to Saint Vincent College today (Saturday, January 16, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Carey Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the PAC.  With the win, the Bearcats improve to 12-3 overall and 8-0 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent jumped out to an 18-8 lead with 10:35 to play in the first half when Matt D'Amico converted an old fashion three-point play.  The Saints answered with a 19-10 run to cut the lead to 28-27 when junior guard Sawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) made a three-pointer with 2:17 to play in the first half.  The Bearcats closed out the half on a 5-2 run to extend the lead to 33-29 at halftime when Ben Klimchock made a lay-up with 10-seconds to play in the half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 14-10 run to tie the game at 43-43 with 13:34 to play in the game when junior forward/center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) made a jumper.  Saint Vincent responded with a 9-2 run capped by an Austin Debert free-throw to build a 52-45 lead with 9:18 to play in the game.  Thomas More answered with a 14-4 run to take a 59-56 lead when Pauly made a lay-up with 5:34 to play in the second half.  Saint Vincent would then close out the game on a 16-7 run to win the game, 72-66.

Clifford led the team in scoring with 17 points, while Pauly and freshman guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./Male) joined him in double-figure scoring with 14 and 11 points respectively.  Horne led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while freshman guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) led the team in assists with five and sophomore guard Daniel Williams (Louisville, Ky./Jeffersontown) led the team in steals with three.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday (January 20) when they host Chatham University at 7:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
