Raymond De La Cruzbecame the 21st player in Baruch men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points during the team's 88-79 CUNYAC road victory on Friday night at CCNY.

De La Cruz reached the milestone with four seconds left by hitting a pair of free throws to help the team improve their season record to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Outside of trailing during the first two minutes, the visiting Bearcats led throughout most of the game and went on to lead by 12 points (47-35) at halftime.

The Beavers started the second half on fire with a three as part of a 12-2 run to turn the game back into a competitive affair by cutting the score to 49-47 with 16:26 left.

They later tied the contest at 64 with under 10 minutes remaining, but the Bearcats never lost their composure and quickly responded with a game-busting 15-2 run to comfortably lead 79-66 with 4:51 left. That was enough to clinch the road victory.

Chimaechi Ekekeugborpaced four players in double-figures with 28 points, followed by Doyin Isaacwith 15, Ethan Hamlett14, and Cruz with his 11 for the win and milestone.

The Bearcats shot 53 percent (31-for-58), including 8-of-17 from three, and for the first time this season kept the turnovers to under double-figures with nine. They also scored 17 points off 13 turnovers by the home team.

The Beavers shot a torrid 60 percent in the second half to get back into the game, but it was not enough as the Bearcats' balanced scoring attack was enough for the team's third road win in four tries this season against conference opposition.

Khalil Hamer led the home side with 27 points and eight assists to fall to 9-7 and 4-4 in CUNYAC.

The Bearcats will hit the road again on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18, with a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at The College of New Jersey in Trenton.
