Maritime Basketball Drops Skyline Matchup With Sage

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's Basketball team lost to Sage, 90-71, on Monday evening in Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.

Sophomore center Patrick MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) led the Privateers with 17 points, five rebounds, two blocks and one steal in the loss. Junior Isaiah Hayes (Jamaica, N.Y./Queens Teaching) also chipped in 15 points to go along with nine rebounds of his own.

The first half was tightly contested as MacDonald netted 10 of his 17 points, doing most of his work in the low post. He was also 4-4 from the free throw line in the half.

Freshman Michael Walker (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) contributed a strong performance off the bench with 13 points, shooting three of seven from three, in addition to his strong perimeter defense with one block and one steal.

Sophomore guard John Liccese (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists in his game-high 36 minutes.

Sage (8-4, 6-1 Skyline) was led by Brett Ullman who scored a game-high 20 points, shooting six of 10 from the three point line.

Maritime (1-9, 1-3 Skyline) will take on Skyline Conference opponent Purchase on the road, Thursday, January 7 at 7 p.m., in Purchase, N.Y.
