City College Cruises Past Medgar Evers

City College of New York men's basketball team cruised past Medgar Evers on Friday night to a 101-81 victory. The Beavers have now scored 100 or more points in two games this season. 

City (9-5, 4-3 CUNYAC) took control of the game early. Medgar Evers (6-8, 3-3 CUNYAC) tried to keep it close, but the Beavers controlled the game during the first half. CCNY could not be stopped as they looked took their time and found a way to the basket to keep the game in their hands. City shot an impressive .574 in the first half and held the Cougars to .379 field goal percentage. Their 54 points in the first half match the team high points in a half they scored against Manhattanville. The Beavers went into the locker room with a big 54-36 lead. 

At the half, four CCNY student-athletes had scored in double-digits with Robbie Dionisio leading the way with 13. 

The Cougars looked for a way to take control of the game in the second half, but City put up big stops to keep themselves in control. CCNY continued to add to the lead and would not give up as they looked for a way to put another conference victory under their belts. While the Cougars put up 45 points in the second half, City put up 47 to keep their lead in lock. City took the game 101-81.

Dionisio led the way for the Beavers with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Khalil Hamer was an assist and rebound away from a triple-double as he tallied 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. David Solano recorded 20 points in the Beavers victory, while Mark Richards added 16. The Beavers finished with a season-high .625 field goal percentage. 

City will face non-conference opponent Connecticut College on January 12 at 7 p.m. The game will take place in Nat Holman Gymnasium.
