CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Colby College men's basketball team won for the 10th straight time and did it by piling up the points in a 115-97 non-conference win over Pine Manor on Tuesday night.
The Mules will take their winning streak and a 10-1 record into the opening weekend of NESCAC play. Colby plays at Bates College on Friday at 7 p.m.
Pat Dickert and Patrick Stewart each had 23 points for the Mules. Dickert was 10-for-11 from the field, while Stewart added a game-high 11 rebounds. Stewart was 7-for-10 from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and made all six of his free throws.
Ryan Jann, the Maine Division III Player of the Week for last week, had 22 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Chris Hudnut finished with 14 points and eight boards to go along with three assists and two steals. John Gallego had eight points and five assists, Sam Willson scored nine points, and Joe Connelly scored eight. Colby point guard Luke Westman had six points and four assists.
The Mules shot 55.7 percent (39-for-70) from the field and had 28 made free throws. Colby had a 43-30 rebounding advantage.
Pine Manor had six players in double figures and still lost by 18 points. Tank Roberson led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
The Mules came out ready to play and led 9-0 in the first minute of play. Willson and Stewart both hit 3-point shots and Jann nailed all three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point shot.
Colby led 20-8 about five minutes into the contest, but Pine Manor settled down and chipped away at the lead. The Gators took their lone lead of the game at 35-34 with 8:34 to intermission. The Mules took control again and led 61-53 at halftime.
Colby dominated the second half and led in double figures most of the way. The Mules' biggest lead was 28 points at 114-86 with 1:59 left in the game.
