HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College men's basketball team posted a convincing 91-60 victory over DePauw (Ind.) to extend its winning streak to seven games on Monday afternoon.
The Terriers are now 10-2 on the season and sit alone atop the NCAC with a 4-1 mark. The Tigers fall to 6-6, 2-3.
All 12 players to play in the game for Hiram recorded a basket. Overall, the Terriers shot 38-of-70 (54.3 percent) from the field and 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
In addition, Hiram outscored DePauw 46-24 in the paint, 18-6 on the fastbreak and 28-5 in points off of turnovers.
The victory was also the first for the Terriers over DePauw in program history.
Senior J.J. Woodson (Oakwood Village, Ohio/Bedford) led the Terriers with 15 points and four steals, going 7-of-11 from the field.
Sophomore Paul Ortiz (Canton, Ohio/McKinley Senior) added 14 points and sophomore Isaiah Matthews (Orlando, Fla./Eastridge) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Off the bench, junior Jeremiah Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) finished with nine points and sophomore Jake Williams (Akron, Ohio/Akron Ellet) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
Hiram never trailed took control of the game from the opening tip, scoring the first five points and 14 of the first 16, to build an early 14-2 lead.
An 8-0 run midway through the first half allowed Hiram to build a 32-14 lead.
The Tigers would counter and cut the Terriers lead to 12 points at 32-20, but Hiram would continue to pull away and built a 51-31 lead heading into the intermission.
Hiram put the game away early in the second half, scoring the first eight points out of the break.
DePauw finished the game 22-of-60 (36.7 percent) from the field and knocked down 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) 3-point attempts.
The Terriers also won the rebounding battle 45-28, including a 16-12 edge on the offensive glass.
Cris Burrough led DePauw with a team-high 13 points off the bench.
Hiram will be back at it on Saturday with a key early conference matchup at Wittenberg. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
