Medgar Evers Downs Bearcats in Overtime (97-95)

The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a 97-95 loss in overtime to the Cougars of Medgar Evers College on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York.

The Cougars scored the first four points of the overtime and connected on four-of-six free throws in the final 25 seconds to edge the visiting Bearcats in a Sunday afternoon CUNYAC thriller.

Both teams relied heavily on threes with the Bearcats shooting 48 percent (12-for-25), while the Cougars shot 38 percent (12-for-32).


Chimaechi Ekekeugborhad a solid game with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Raymond De La Cruzscored 19 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three. He also narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds in a solid all-around effort for the senior.

Ryan Markoescored a season-high 17 points and Edward Roscignotallied 10 points, four rebounds, four assist and two steals in a busy 30 minutes.

Matthew Lee led the home team to the win with a double-double of 34 points (10-for-17 fg), 12 rebounds and four assists.

The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, January 5, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest against John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
