The Calvin College Knights defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 77-66 in the Bearcats' final game of the d3hoops.com Classic, held at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

The Knights took an early 7-1 lead in the opening two minutes before Pat Jones hit a three-pointer for the Bearcats.

The score was 11-8 after a turnaround jumper by JC Howard, but Calvin went on a 7-2 run to extend the lead to eight, 18-10.

SVC then went to work, with Howard scoring on a conventional three-point play.  After a Calvin putback, Dan Sinwell hit a three, followed by a steal and fastbreak layup by Jaylon Bell that made the score 20-18.  Matt D'Amico then tied the game at the 10:27 mark with a rebound and putback.   The 9-point run concluded with a pair of Bobby Swartwout free throws that gave SVC its first lead 22-20.

However, the Knights responded with an 8-0 of their own, before Howard hit a pull up jumper with just under seven minutes left in the half, making the score 28-24 in favor of Calvin.  The Knights then reeled off six more points to extend their lead to ten, 34-24.  By the end of the half, the Bearcats were down 40-28.

The opponents came out shooting threes to start the second half, extending the lead to 20 (52-32) before Ben Klimchock hit a three at the 15:40 mark to make it 52-35.  He added another three less than a minute later, then took a charging call, helping to give SVC some momentum, cutting the margin to fifteen, 56-41.  Austin Dedert then added a putback after a rebound by Alex Vanzant, forcing Calvin to call a timeout at 13:04.  The strategy didn't work, as Bell added a tip-in to make it 56-45.

After a turnaround jumper by Austin Ford, the Knights hit a three at the 9:42 mark, their first points in over four minutes.  Jones responded with a three of his own, making it a 59-50 game with 9:20 on the clock.

The Bearcats then went cold from the floor, while Calvin added seven straight points, taking a 66-50 lead with just under 6 minutes remaining.

Four points from D'Amico, followed by a pair of Vanzant free throws made it 74-62 with 2:20 left, but the Bearcats fell short, losing by 11.

D'Amico led the offense with a career-high 13 points, while Jones added 10. Dedert had 7 rebounds, while Bell had 9 points and 6 boards.
