Big Blue Men’s Basketball Downs Adrian

         The Millikin men's basketball team defeated Adrian College 62-57 at the St. Andrews Products Classic hosted by Trine University in Angola, Indiana on December 20.

         The game was tight thought out and was tied on eight occasions.  It was a 29-29 game at the half.  Millikin was up 57-50 with 3:23 remaining.  Adrian battled back and pulled to within three at 57-54 on a Davonte Harris three-pointer with 53 seconds remaining.  Tommy Pilackas hit a three with 22 seconds remaining to put Millikin up 60-54.  The Big Blue would seal the win with two TJ Griffin free throws with four seconds remaining.

         Millikin shot 50 percent from the field including hitting on 12-18 (67 percent from three point range).  Adrian hit on 41.5 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 32-27.

         Millikin had five players get into the scoring column with four players reaching double figures.  Griffin lead Millikin with 18 points.  Jack Simpson had 15 points (3-3 from three-point range) followed by Elijah Kinmon (4-5 from three-point range) with 13.  Pilackas had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.  Freshman Nathan Lovekamp scored six points and grabbed six rebounds.

         Harris led Adrian with 15 points.

         Millikin completes the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 6-5 record.  The Big Blue open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on January 2 at Carthage College.

         Adrian falls to 6-4 on the season.
