NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior guard Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.) dropped in 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds, topping a balanced scoring attack for Manchester University Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Registering double figures for the fourth time in the last five games, Brouwer recorded his third career 20-point-plus effort on eight-of-11 shooting from the field and two of three successful three-point attempts. His rebounding totals tied him with fellow junior guard Chase Casteel (Monrovia, Ind.). Senior guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) and sophomore guard Brody Kirby (Frankfort, Ind.) were next in line scoring-wise with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Visiting Finlandia University (1-7) got out to a fast start inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena, tallying 13 of the first 22 points. MU (4-5) responded with an 18-7 run to close out the first half, holding a 49-40 lead at the break, and continued to build the advantage to as large as 23 (93-70) at game's end. The Spartans used a sparkling shooting effort to forge the win, hitting 57.4 percent from the field and 60 percent from outside the arc.

Manchester University breaks from action until Wednesday, Dec. 30, when they travel to in-state non-conference rival Trine University for a 7 p.m. tipoff. It's part of a doubleheader with the Black and Gold women's team.

NOTES: Freshman guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) continued his impressive campaign, scoring 12 points to go with six assists and four steals, each team highs. Senior forward Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.) chipped in 11 points, and sophomore forward Enis Becirevic (Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished with 10 points … MU's 93-point total was its most in a game since November of 2012 … The Spartans take a two-game win streak into winter break.
