Brooklyn, NY---In front of a near sell-out crowd in their CUNYAC home-opener, the #24 nationally ranked BC men's basketball team took care of business, defeating John Jay 91-64.  The Bulldogs improve to 8-0 to start the season and 2-0 in the CUNYAC.  John Jay drops to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

With another strong showing offensively for the Bulldogs, four BC starters would reach double-figures in scoring.  The pack was led by senior forward Lorenzo Williams' game-high 28 points including 9-11 from the free throw line.  He would also grab eight rebounds and dish out four assists on the evening.

Senior swingman Egzon Gjonbalaj had his third impressive game of the week, adding 18 points, grabbing six boards, and distributing four assists.  Tonight was a follow-up to his triple-double performance (34 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) on Wednesday at home against Stevens Tech.

The Bulldogs grabbed the lead for good and never looked back with 16:21 left in the first half.  BC extended their lead to ten points with 11:40 remaining in the first half on a senior guard Jamel Gist free throw.  Gist finished with 11 points on 4-6 from the field including 2-3 from beyond the arc.

BC took a 45-26 halftime lead on two Lorenzo Williams free throws.

John Jay made a push in the first six minutes minutes into second half, cutting the Bulldog lead to as few as twelve points with 13:50 left in the game.  However, the Bulldogs responded with a 13-5 run that increased BC's lead back up to 20 points with 10:41 to go.

The game ended with Bulldogs' largest lead of the contest.

In addition to another strong performance offensively for the Bulldogs, BC held the Bloodhounds to 35.6% from the field including 27.3% from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs kept the Bloodhounds' leading scorer Essien Epps who came into the game averaging close to 20 points per contest to two points in the first half.  He would finish the game with 17 points on 5-15 from the floor and 0-4 from three-point land.

Moving the ball well all evening long, the Bulldogs finished with 25 assists as a team on 35 made field goals.

Second-year BC Head Coach, Rich Micaleff cleared the bench with just under a couple of minutes to play.  Every Bulldog who suited up saw some action.

Happy with their eighth straight victory, Coach Micaleff commented, "Nice win tonight by the guys.  It's never easy in conference play no matter who the opponent. It was a concerted effort by the team.  Lorenzo and Egzon had another tremendous game."
