Plymouth, N.H.-Sophomore guard Chris Green (Taunton, MA) and junior forward Terrance Tribble (White Plains, NY) combined for 30 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team dropped their Little East Conference opener to Plymouth State, 75-63, on Saturday afternoon.

The two squads traded baskets early, with a layup by RIC (1-7, 0-1 LEC) freshman guard Brandon Williams Jr. (Dorchester, MA) putting the Anchormen ahead by three, 13-10, with 14:20 left in the period. The Panthers (8-0, 2-0 LEC) rebounded, taking a one point lead following a dunk by junior forward Jack Preston (Nashua, NH) with 9:35 left in the half.

The teams swapped the lead until the 1:35 mark when a layup by PSU senior forward Uche Nwokeji (Lynn, MA) gave the Panthers a six point, 41-35, lead. The Anchormen cut the lead down to three, but a late three-pointer by freshman guard Mike Osgood (Nashua, NH) gave Plymouth a 46-38 lead entering the half.

The Panthers started the second half quickly and stretched their lead to 17 points following a made jumper by sophomore guard Brian Boulay (Keene, NH) with 13:56 left in the half. The Anchormen cut the deficit back down to single digits when a layup by Tribble made the score 59-51 with 10:09 left in the frame.

The Panthers wouldn't be caught however, with a Boulay layup increasing the Panthers advantage to 19 points, 74-55, with 3:18 left in the contest. A made trey by Green with 1:01 left in the game cut the lead down to 12, 75-63, but the Panthers were able to hold on and secure their second league win.

Green led the Anchormen with 18 points on 50 percent (7-for-14) from the floor. Tribble chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds, with freshman forward Justin Campbell (New Haven, CT) posting 10 points and six boards.

PSU was paced by junior guard Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, NH), who scored a game-high 21 points. Preston added 20 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Osgood (11 points) and Boulay (10 points) were also in double figures for the Panthers.

RIC shot 43.1 percent (25-for-58) from the floor, while shooting 25.0 percent (4-for-16) from three-point range. The Panthers shot 52.7 percent (29-for-55) from the field as a squad, while shooting 85.7 percent (12-for-14) from the charity stripe. 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, Dec. 8 (7 p.m.).
