More news about: Green Mountain
POULTNEY, Vt. – The Eagles scored 100 points for the third time this season and emerged with their fifth-straight win as they upended Thomas College, 100-78, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball action on Friday night before a raucous crowd at the Eagle Dome.

Green Mountain (5-1, 2-0 NAC) hit nearly 50 percent of its shots from the field including a 43.8 mark from beyond the arc en route to victory. Cameron Anderson (Charlottesville, Va.) carved out a game-high 23 points which included several highlight-reel dunks. He also contributed seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Thomas Brown (Charlottesville, Va.) notched 19 points and a team-high eight boards and four assists, while Mychal Parker (Washington, N.C.) had nine points, eight boards and three blocks.

Thomas (2-5, 0-1 NAC) was led by Levi Barnes' 22 points, however, he needed 19 shots to get there. Carlos Gonzalez neared a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds while Andrew Middleton matched Gonzalez' eight boards and also contributed eight points and two assists.

The Terriers battled hard throughout the majority of the first portion of the opening half and the teams remained deadlocked at 19-19 midway through the half. Jared Carithers (Washington, D.C.) had back-to-back within a minute of play with 7:27 remaining to help propel the hosts to their biggest lead of the half at 24-19. The Eagles would hit four more three-pointers down the stretch to extend the lead to 47-33 heading into the break.

The Eagles' overall athleticism was hard for the Terriers to contain over the long haul with Anderson and Parker proving tough covers due to their ability to get to the basket while still finding open teammates off the bounce. The hosts extended the second half lead to as many as 27 points and then substituted liberally in the last several minutes of the game.

The Eagles held just a slim advantage on the boards with a 48-45 margin, but consciously made the extra pass resulting in 21 assists.  Thomas received a great effort from its bench which outscored GMC's by a 38-33 margin.

The Eagles and Terriers will both be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. The Eagles will host UMaine-Farmington while the Terriers will trek down the road to visit Castleton. The Beavers will enter tomorrow's game having lost this evening 98-71 to Castleton.
