BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State's Nico McLean (Buffalo/Amherst) nailed a 25-footer at the end of regulation and then hit a go-ahead fade-away jumper with just eight seconds remaining in overtime, but JP Reagan nailed a late 3-pointer to give visiting Cortland an 84-83 victory in tonight's SUNYAC season-opener at the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Michael Henry (Syracuse/W. Genesee) led Buffalo State with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but fouled out of the game with three minutes remaining in overtime.
- McLean added 17 points, six assists and three steals.
- Redell Freeman (Rochester/Bishop Kearney), Dominic Grayer (Brooklyn/Bishop Loughlin), and Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) added 12 points apiece for the Bengals.
- Buffalo State led by as many as five early in the first half, the Cortland took a 37-32 advantage into halftime.
- The Red Dragons grew the lead to 10 early in the second half, before the Bengals responded with a 7-0 run to close the gap to three with 13:24 remaining. Cortland pushed the lead back to nine and still led by five at 76-71 with less than a minute remaining in regulation.
- McLean hit a layup with 47 seconds left and after a Cortland turnover, nailed the long three with just two seconds left to force overtime tied at 76-76.
- The Bengals opened the scoring in overtime with a 3-pointer by Freeman, but Reagan tied the score with an old-fashioned 3-point play on the next trip down the floor.
- Cortland led briefly, but the Bengals evened the score with just over a minute left. After a missed 3-pointer by the Red Dragons, Buffalo State took the lead on the McLean jumper with eight seconds left, but Reagan ended the contest with the 3 from the right wing with just 0.2 seconds remaining.
FOR THE FOES
- Blair Estarfaa led five Cortland scorers in double-figures with 17 points. Carrel Joseph scored 12 points, and Reagan finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
- Dre Hampton and Zay Cotton added 10 points each off the bench.
- Cortland finished 13 of 29 from 3-point range.
