Hartford, Conn. – Junior Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched 14 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 74-56 victory over the visiting Vassar College Brewers in its men's basketball home opener this evening on Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity, ranked No. 18 in the nation, improves to 4-1 with its fourth victory in a row, while the Brewers drop to 2-3.

Down, 13-12, just over 12 minutes into the game after a jumper by Vassar senior captain Erikson Wasyl (Durham, Conn.), Trinity jumped ahead, 15-13, on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) at the 11:28 mark and led the rest of the way.  Gendron's trey ignited a 13-0 run, as the Bantams rode 5-for-11 shooting from long range to a 42-25 lead at the break.

Vassar came out hot in the second half, making three three-pointers in less than four minutes to close the gap to 46-38, but Ogundeko scored the next four points to start a 10-0 Bantam spurt.  Trinity took its largest lead at 65-42 on another Ogundeko bucket inside with 7:58 on the clock, and held a comfortable lead from that point on.

Trinity held the Brewers to 31.6 percent shooting from the floor (18-57) with more than half the Vassar field goals (10) coming from beyond the arc.  Trinity also outrebounded Vassar, 49-31, and committed just five turnovers while causing 12 by the Brewers.  Senior captain forwardShay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Gendron scored 12 points apiece, while senior captain guard Rick Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.) added 10 points.  Sophomore Chris Turnbull (Ridgewood, N.J.) notched eight points and seven rebounds off the bench, and senior captain Andrew Hurd(Windsor, Conn.) added six boards and six assists for the Bantams.

Sophomore guard Jesse Browne (Barrington, R.I.) led all scorers with 20 points, while Wasyl recorded 14 points and five assists, and sophomore guard Tony Caletti (Mill Valley, Calif.) finished with 12 points for Vassar.  Rookie center Paul Grinde (Virginia Beach, Va.) paced the Brewers inside with nine boards, but the visitors did not make a steal or block a shot.
