ITHACA, N.Y. – Marc Chasin and Sam Bevan combined to score 49 points as the Ithaca College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to three games with an 83-74 win over SUNY Cortland on Tuesday night in Ben Light Gymnasium.

With the win, Ithaca improves to 4-1 overall while the Red Dragons, who entered the contest undefeated, fall to 3-1 on the season.

Chasin posted a season-high 27 points in the win on 11-of-17 shooting.  The sophomore guard also added eight rebounds and three assists.  Bevan, who also notched a season-high in scoring, contributed 22 points after knocking down 11-of-13 attempts from the free throw line to go along with 10 assists and seven boards.  Carroll Rich finished with 11 points and four rebounds while freshman Peter Ezema grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

After a slow start, the Bombers found themselves in a 15-point hole, 22-7, courtesy of a 10-0 run by the Red Dragons before a corner 3-pointer from Matt Flood halted a four minute scoring drought for Ithaca to make it 22-12 with 12 minutes to play in the opening stanza.

Cortland continued to knock down open shots, eventually building its lead back to 15 points, but the momentum shifted with three minutes showing on the clock as back-to-back lay-ups from Chasin and Bevan sparked a 13-4 run that brought the Bombers to within six points at the break, 44-38.

Coming out of intermission, Ithaca continued to find its rhythm.  The Bombers erased a six-point deficit and would take their first lead of the game with 9:42 to play when Bevan penetrated the Cortland defense and converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to make it 59-57 in Ithaca's favor.

From there, Ithaca would pull away, scoring 14 of the game's next 18 points including eight unanswered to take a 10-point lead,73-63.

The Red Dragons would cut the lead to five points, but the visitors ran out of steam on the defensive end as Ithaca pushed its advantage back to double-digits after converting eight from the charity stripe over the game's final 1:33.

As a team, The Bombers shot nearly 50 percent from the floor on 28-of-57 shooting while also converting 20-of-25 free throws.

The Bombers will host St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Ben Light Gymnasium in a non-conference bout.
