LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Nov. 17, 2015) – Despite being down two at halftime, host Covenant made 68.2 percent of its second-half shots to rally for an 80-61 win over the Sewanee men's basketball team, Tuesday, inside the Barnes P.E. Center.

The Scots made 15-of-22 attempts the final 20 minutes while Sewanee struggled from the field after the break. That allowed Covenant to outscore the Tigers 47-26 in the second half.

Sewanee built a two-point halftime advantage after each team traded the lead 10 times in the first half. In fact, neither team led by more than five points in the opening half.

After Berto Dryden made a three with 7:24 left before halftime, Sewanee answered back with a 12-4 run. A three by Jorden Williams sparked the offensive spurt that was capped off by another three by Matthew Lee. However, a three by Ben Phillips, and a layup by Will Portlock, tied the contest at 33-33 with 1:07 left.

Sewanee took its lead into the half after Lee hit a layup on the next possession.

Unfortunately, the tight game would not last long in the second half. After Jacob McCullough pushed the Sewanee advantage to four, 37-33, Covenant made seven of its next nine shots. That allowed the Scots to take a seven-point lead, 48-41, with 14:54 left.

Even as Sewanee tried to chip away at its deficit, Covenant's offense kept rolling. Three straight three-point field goals opened a 17-0 run by the Scots with 4:02 left.

Overall, Covenant made 54.0 percent of its shots. Comparably, Sewanee was limited on offense with a 38.6 field-goal percent.

Individually, Seth Brown and Keshonn Carter led Sewanee with 12 points each.

TJ Cox paced three Covenant players in double figures with 16 points.

Sewanee returns to action with a 6:00 p.m. game Friday against Boyce.
