More news about: Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior captain Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men's Basketball All-Star Third Team.

Eggleston – who shared Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Year honors with fellow Third Team selection Kamahl Walker of Endicott – led Nichols and ranked third in the conference in scoring at 18.3 ppg. He reached double-figures in points in all but two games this year and recorded a pair of double-doubles – both against the Gulls (Jan. 15 & Feb. 11). Eggleston poured in a career-high 33 in a win over defending conference champion Gordon on February 5. The two-time CCC Player of the Week notched nine 20-point games this season and 10 games with three-or-more steals – including three-straight games with five (Husson, Nov. 24; Roger Williams, Dec. 3; Salve Regina, Dec. 6).

This past season, Eggleston helped the Bison reach the 20-win plateau for the second-consecutive season and break their own CCC record for conference wins, going 17-1 after posting a 16-2 conference mark last season. The squad earned home court advantage through the playoffs by finishing in first-place for the second-straight season after being picked fifth in the preseason poll.

Joe Flannery of Babson was tabbed ECAC Division III New England Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Johnny McCarthy of Amherst was named Rookie of the Year while Babson head coach Stephen Brennan took home Coach of the Year honors.
