Men's basketball falls in SAA quarterfinals

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—In the first round of the Southern Athletic Association tournament, Berry College lost to Centre College, 90-74, on Friday.

The Colonels moved to 21-4 and advanced to Saturday's semifinal round. The Vikings ended their season at 7-19--the most wins since the 2010-11 season.

The Vikings had three players with double-digit points in their final game of the 2014-15 season.

Tyler Harville led Berry in the game with 17 points and 3 three-pointers. He led both teams by generating four steals and had 13 points in the first half. Lee McCloud added 14 points while going 7-of-8 at the free throw line.

Owen Jacobs picked up another double-double on the season by scoring 10 points and rebounding 11 shots. Eight of his rebounds were on the offensive end.  

In the first half, Berry trailed 23-20 after McCloud converted 2 free throws with 6:14 left in the period. The Colonels then went on an 18-5 run to end the half, and led 41-25 at the break.

Josh Karsner led Centre with a game-best 24 points. He was 7-of-9 from the field and 6-of-8 behind the three-point arc.

The Colonels will face the Hendrix Warriors in the seminfinal round tomorrow.
