The Westminster men's basketball team ended the 2014-15 season with a 63-55 loss at Spalding on Saturday.

The Spalding Golden Eagles made the first basket of the game, but senior Brandon Moore quickly hit a three to take the lead. Junior Tanner Gentges hit a three-pointer and junior Matt Murphy hit a jump shot to take the 8-2 lead. 

Spalding hit a three to bring the game within three, but freshman Tanner Cochran and junior Kellen Brondel each scored a layup, and Brondel went 2-2 from the free-throw line to go up 14-5 five and a half minutes in.

The Blue Jays were unable to hit a shot again until the 10:34 mark, while the Golden Eagles scored six to bring the game within three, 14-11. The Golden Eagles managed to take their first lead with 6:57 on the clock, but a jump shot by Moore knotted the game back up at 19-19. 

The Blue Jays called a timeout after Spalding went up by five. Coming out of the timeout, Moore hit a three to come within two, and a minute later Murphy hit a three to pull back the lead, 25-24. 

Gentges hit a three with :44 on the clock, and with 13 second to go, he was fouled and sent to the line. He went 2-2 to put the Blue Jays up 34-27. In the final second, Spalding hit a layup to send the Blue Jays into halftime with a 34-29 lead.

Spalding came into the second half and scored six to take the 35-34 lead. Senior Verdis Lee Jr. made a layup to put the Blue Jays back up on the board in the second. The Blue Jays' lead did not last long as the Golden Eagles scored five points to grasp the lead back. 

The Golden Eagles extended their lead to six with 9:28 left in the game, but the a three by junior Brandon Drum put the Blue Jays within four a minute later. 

Spalding went back up by eight with 3:50 on the clock. Cochran and Murphy each went 2-2 from the line to bring the game within four, and with 1:54 to play, Brandon Drum brought the game to a one-shot game, 58-55.

The Blue Jays had their opportunity when Moore grabbed the defensive rebound and threw the ball up to the outlet, but Spalding was there to grab the steal, and the play ended with Spalding scoring two. With 18 seconds left, Spalding hit a three to put them up 63-55. 

The Blue Jays missed their final shot, ending the game with a 63-55 loss. 

Moore led the Blue Jays' scoring with 13 points. Gentges added 10 to the loss, while Drum added nine. Gentges, Moore, Drum and freshman Jimmy Villalobos each finished with four rebounds.

The Westminster Blue Jays finish the season with a 4-14 conference record and a 5-20 overall record. They will not know their conference ranking until the rest of the conference games are played.
