Baruch falls in regular season finale to Brooklyn, play CCNY Sunday 5pm in CUNYAC quarterfinal

The Baruch College Bearcats lost their regular season finale, 75-68, to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Monday night in Brooklyn, New York.

The Bulldogs shot 60 percent (12-for-20) in the second half and won the battle of the boards, 46-24, to hand the visiting Bearcats their second conference loss of the season.

The Bearcats trailed throughout the first half, but came roaring back in the second with a Ryan Markoe 3-pointer tying the game at 44 with 13:25 left.

Valon Djombalic hit a free throw to regain the Bulldogs' lead at 45-44, but back-to-back threes by Chimaechi Ekekeugbor and Markoe would give the Bearcats their biggest lead at 50-45.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs regrouped and took control down the stretch to record the win on their respective Senior Night.

Ekekeugbor poured in a career-high 22 points, while Raymond De La Cruz had 14 points and Granville Gittens 12 in the tough loss.

Egzon Gjonbalaj led the home team with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

The men's basketball team will now turn their attention to the CUNYAC tournament that gets underway this weekend. The Bearcats will host CCNY in a quarterfinal scheduled for 5:00 pm on Sunday in the ARC Arena.
