Sophomore Devon Allen leads the Men's Basketball team past Muskingum 80-69

ADA - The Ohio Northern men's basketball team defeated Muskingum 80-69 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day to keep their OAC tournament hopes alive.

Northern improves its record to 11-12 overall and 6-10 in Ohio Athletic Conference play while Muskingum falls to 6-17, 3-13.

The Polar Bears were led by sophomore Devon Allen, who scored a team-high 15 points.

Senior Isaiah Roux added 12 points for the Polar Bears.

Sophomore Travis Feitshans just missed a double-double as he added 12 points for Northern and a game-high nine rebounds on the afternoon.

Sophomores Konnor Baker and Aron Thress added 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

After two free-throws from Thress tied the game at 10-10 with 12:49 to go in the first half, Northern would go on a quick 7-0 run to give themselves a 17-10 lead.

Muskingum would fight back within 15-17 with 10:28 remaining in the first half.

A lay up by Feitshans would give Northern its biggest lead of the half at 35-22 with 5:01 remaining in the first period.

After a 3-pointer by the Muskies pulled them within 38-33, Northern would close the half out on a 9-3 run to take the 47-36 advantage into the break.

Muskingum would fight back to within eight points after a three pointer pulled them within 73-65 with 3:58 remaining in the contest.

The Polar Bears would not let the Muskies gain anymore ground as they went on the win the game 80-69.

ONU hit five of their last eight free throws down the stretch to help close out the contest.

Northern won the rebounding battle as they out rebounded Muskingum 49-27, including 19 offensive rebounds.

The Polar Bears went 30-of-66 (45.5 percent) from the field while the Muskies hit 25-of-55 (45.5 percent) shots on the afternoon.

Ohio Northern will return home Wednesday night, as they play host to Baldwin Wallace at 7:30 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
